REPORT ON THE CAREER STALL PUT UP BY THE DEPARTMENT OF LIFE SCIENCES DURING DAKSH ON 30 NOVEMBER AND 1 DECEMBER, 2018

Daksh is an education fair conducted by the University Student Council every year. All departments under various deaneries have a representative stall which is open to school and college students. The Department of Life Sciences put up two stalls for two days (30 Nov and 1 Dec, 2018),  for undergraduate (Teacher in charges Dr. Sayantan D and Dr.  Joseph KS with Adhithya Sankar, Sumam Sara Sunil, Dias Priyanjali Savio and Aman Sharma as student volunteers) and postgraduate (Teacher in charges Prof. Vasantha VL and Dr. Anish Nag with Nidhi Girish and Joel Jose as student volunteers) courses respectively. Various information of the department on categories such as courses, publications, research- internship etc was displayed. Along with these, preserved specimens and permanent slides of various biological specimens were kept as exhibits. In addition to that, on the Day 1 live experiment of DNA isolation from cauliflower using household items was demonstrated and on the second day, blood groups typing experiment was performed live. Both the stalls attracted the crowd who were interested in these courses and necessary details were provided.
